This cake has many names all around the world for example jelly rolls, Swiss roll, but in Sweden it is called rulltårta. It is a simple sponge cake which is one of the classical cakes to make when you will have guest coming over. This is the base recipe but it is possible to make it more like a dessert cake with whip cream and fruits.

These delicate little cookies are super crispy and will be liked both by children and adults. These are super simple to prepare and fits perfect to the afternoon coffee or tea. The best part is that they are gluten free so most people can eat them

To make soft saffron buns in Sweden is very typical between first of advent and Christmas. These buns are filled with almond paste, vanilla and butter. Preparing the dough in two steps will make the buns very fluffy and tasteful. These buns are best enjoyed together with cup of coffee or a glass of milk.

Swedish soft flatbread have a wide variation of use. They are perfect as a wrap, starter or a side dish. It is also possible to eat them as breakfast, or prepare them and have them on the road. This version is perfect as a starter do to its salty taste of the olives and creaminess of the cheese.

The Swedish smörgåstårta is very popular in the summer and is often served on school graduations or fits to all big summer celebrations. This particularly on might not be the first one that comes to mind, but both kids and adults will love it. The cake is best to prepare one day before, that way it has time to rest in the fridge over the night.

Everyone knows that Swedes are crazy about their lingonberries and serve it to all kinds of food. This cheesecake recipe with lingonberries proves that you can have a dinner with lingonberries as a theme ! The autumn is the season for these berries. If you don't want to go out in the forest to pick them yourself you will find fresh ones in the shops during this period of the year, or frozen ones all year around.

Have you heard of the Swedish semlor, a cardamom bun filled with almond paste and whip cream? The semlor (plural) is so popular so it even exists a special day for this pastry, the Tuesday between Shrove Monday and Ash Wednesday. This is a modified version of the original semla made in to a big soft cake that still taste like a real semla.

This Swedish casserole has been a classic on the Christmas tables from 1940. It is a salty dish made of a mixture of anchovies in brine, potatoes, heavy cream and bread crumbles. It is a perfect dish to on on a cold winter day.
