This cake is considered magical because the cake has three different layers, but only require on batter. This might have more to do with science than magic but it is still amazing when you see the result. The cake has a soft fluffy bottom, a creamy middle and a dense top, or you can have it the other way around if you prefer.

The Swedes are crazy about chocolate cake that is sticky in the middle (kladdkaka). This is a basic one that is common to do. To change it a bit you can add some chocolate both inside the cake, and on top of it.

If you like homemade Swedish cinnamon buns but think it takes to long to roll each bun, this recipe is for you. It takes less time but taste the same as your favorite buns. You can make the squares as big as you like them to be.

This sweet French beignet is a deep-fried choux pastry sprinkled with powdered sugar and has a round shape. The taste is more like a cake than the English and American fritter version and by the way is not round but square. This recipe uses yeast and there by it makes this beignet to a boule de Berlin.

This homemade chocolate Swiss roll is a hit at the children’s birthday parties. The cake is both fun and easy to prepare together with the birthday boy or girl. The bites are not so big so don’t be surprised if the small guests will ask for another bite.

Homemade Swedish chess cookies with the classical combination of cacao and vanilla. Guess why they are called chess cookies... because they resemble a chess board ! They are fun to do and you can make the traditional square shape, or why not make them as a circle for a change.
