This cake has many names all around the world for example jelly rolls, Swiss roll, but in Sweden it is called rulltårta. It is a simple sponge cake which is one of the classical cakes to make when you will have guest coming over. This is the base recipe but it is possible to make it more like a dessert cake with whip cream and fruits.

These Alsatian Christmas cookies are shaped as mini bretzels and topped with a sweet glazing. The glaze can be made with any taste you prefere. It is common to make these cookies long in advance before Christmas, as early as in November. This has to do with that the cookies are usally placed in a tin box with a baking paper.

Traditional chocolate chip muffins with a twist of hazelnuts taste. You can choose to make the muffins big or small dependent on how you like them. The most important is that the muffins are moist and have crunchy chocolate bites inside.

Homemade French Christmas cookies shaped as the face of Santa Claus. Fun to make together with the children but it requires some patients for the decorations. But in the end, it is all worth it when you see the smile of the children and adults when you finally serve them.

Alsatian Christmas cookies (bredele) comes in many variations of shapes and flavors. Every family bake their own cookies and have their own traditions when it comes to these small treats. These chocolate snowballs are crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. I recommend preparing several batches with different chocolate each time, this way they will last longer.

During Christmas time in Sweden Gingerbread is a given in almost every house. This is a combination of both soft cake and cookies at the same time. It is fun to try to make the decoration differently every year. This one has a sprinkled Christmas tree with cinnamon powder on top.

This homemade chocolate cake has a soft chocolate meringue on top of it, which make the cake taste heavenly. It is easy to make and the kids can help in the kitchen to feel part of the baking process.

A Swedish semla is a cardamom bun filled with almond paste and whip cream. This recipe is a mix of a semla and a blond mud cake. This slightly sticky mud cake is topped like a semla, with almond paste and sweet whip cream. So why not give it a try and impress your friends or family on the actual semmel day that accrues in February, the day before Ash Wednesday.

Small homemade energy balls with dates. Perfect as afternoon snack or a quick energy boost when you’re in a hurry. If you want to serve them to your children, you can roll them in grated coconut instead and they will love these small healthy snacks.

Homemade meringue is easy to do and contains much less sugar the version you find in the shop. The meringue is often served together with ice cream or whip cream as a dessert, but can be served just as it is as well.
